Ferit brake pads

I have noticed that my Ferrari 328 is fitted with Ferit brake pads on the front.
Are these considered a reasonable brake pad for normal road use?
The brakes seem ok but not as sharp as a modern car. I guess this is down to the age of the car?
Would the braking effect improve with something like a Ferrodo DS 2500 pad (for normal road use)
