Hi all, any help gratefully received.

My wife has a 54 plate Jeep Grand Cherokee that has developed a noise from the front suspension when going over speed bumps or similar at anything over about 10 mph. The noise is a sort of grating clonk. I have had the car in to the local garage for a look. They replaced all 4 shocks as they were all leaking but could not find anything else wrong. My thoughts were a broken spring but they said no, no broken springs. The replacement shocks have tidied up the handling but not cured the noise. The car is due for MOT in a couple of weeks and I would rather sort it first.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Could be anything from anti roll bar links/bushes, snapped spring, a worn suspension bush, or something has come lose when they did the job, how long ago was the shocks replaced?

I took the car in because of the problem, the new shocks have not cured it. I will look at the rollbar and bushes. Thanks.

I would also take a look at gearbox and engine mountings for a fault. But as said before anti roll bar links and bushings would be a good place to start.
