Discussion
hi, recently replaced my rear wheel cylinders, both seized, also replaced rear shoe,s bleed the system ,took it for mot failed on ineffective rear brakes, fronts brilliant, bleed it numerous times, still no better,if i jack car up get somebody to put foot on brake, i can stillturn the rear wheels by hand its difficult but just shows how week they are, could it be the brake regulators, the car is a rover 114,cheers for any advice
The two above answers are likely causes, but also, what about the condition of the brake drums?
Has it failed on mot on the foot brake test or the handbrake test?
Check to make sure all the springs are in good condition and fitted correctly during the rebuild, make sure any excess brake fluid from the faulty cylinders has been cleaned away from the drum and other components.
Lastly, I would bleed and adjust the brakes again.
