The ball & cup is fine but the gaiter has torn, is this an MoT failure? I guess it is.

I would think this would fall under section G of this, which does show that as a reason for fail.

They're easy enough to change - if you can get the nuts off, I've had to cut a few off - & not that expensive. Wear in the balljoint causes a clonk.

Last replaced them about 4 year ago, changed from metal to plastic ones. And yes, the nuts were a bit of a problem!
These don't clonk yet, the last ones certainly did!
