I thought I'd take the wet weather as a sign to check the drums and do some routine maintenance on the Healey 100.

Nearside back - all good.
offside back .... there is a 3/16" spacer between the brake drum cover and the Hub Extension.
Something that is not there on the nearside wheel.

Any ideas as to why there might be need for 3/16" extra on the wheel?

any ideas welcomed.
Thanks.

Check the drums to see if they are identical
On a lot of classic vehicles if an original part can't be found often a similar ( but not exact) is bridged to fit

Possibly the rear axle is not correctly located for some reason, and the extra spacer has been added to prevent the tyre rubbing? I've seen this done a few times on mini's with bent rear radius arms.
