Bad sound from suspension

I've got a Puzzling sound coming from the suspension of my Civic (See in profile for details if needed)

When going over a speed bump or round a sharp bend there is a massive loud metal banging sound from the front suspension area. I feel nothing through the steering and the car is exhibiting no suspension or geometry problems at all. It's polybushed all round so I know all bushes are okay. The springs are a little rusty but no breakage from what I can see

The really odd thing is this sound will only ever happen once or twice in a journey, and will then not occur again until the next journey.

Can anyone tell me what this is likely to be? It seems like something that warms up and then rights itself because of the way it will only do it once or twice per journey

hondas are quite prone to worn drop links.

Is there an easy way to test drop links?

I can find my way round the average car suspension but this Honda Double wishbone setup is a nightmare to identify parts and get your hands into!

If I polybushed it myself I should be able to sort out the drop links, but if there's an easy way to test like there is for worn bushings i'd like to know it

Never mind, just got the jack out and got under there with my phone flash for some light.

Ive just ordered a new pair of droplinks. You were spot on they look totally knackered with all the rubber parts eaten away and the one on the right looks damaged where it meets the ARB.

New pair, £9 . I will let you know if this solves the problem. I'm pretty certain it will considering almost all suspension parts have been overhauled except for these

i had no noticeable wear/play in my droplinks, but once i changed them, it was a lot quieter on the road
