You don't need to inform them of winter tyres if you're not changing the sizes.

The Vector 4Seaons G2 is an old tyre, now, it's being replaced next year, I'd guess the new Ultragrip Performance+ is a better "all season" tyre too.

Is that really a thing ? The winters on our F-Pace run on 19" rims rather than the 20" the summers are on. Given the various diameter wheels available on new cars, as long as the tyres are the right profile what's the issue ?

Take your pedantry elsewhere please and stop taking comments so seriously - fank U
Don’t confuse pedantry with opinion - my opinion is the wheels look fine..
Unfortunately you chose to post pedantry and not opinion biggrin

Somebody posted a link to a list of insurers who don’t care about winters being fitted - my insurer wasn’t in the list

The conversation with them went like this

BC - Hi I’ve fitted winter tyres to my car - just wanted to let you know

IC - winter tyres to your existing wheels

BC - nope to 17 inch BMW steels but with same rolling diameter

IC - Does it look like a 116d now

BC - pretty much yes except the 116d has wheel trims

IC - I’ll arrange for a 50% reduction in premium - you’ll get the cheque in a week ****

**** if Carlsburg did car insurance etc etc

I’ve got a set of winters on alloys suitable for a BMW 120M Sport with about 1500 miles on the tyres and can’t even give them away.....

I’m amazed most people don’t appreciate the value of a winter tyre in st weather.

This thread seems to attract a few non-believers..!

My conversation with LV was similar. They didn't need to know if just tyres swapping onto existing wheels. Wanted a courtesy call from me any time I'm swapping alloys to steel or back again in spring. No additional cost and no admin fee.

The cert came back updated "modifications from standard: Wheels - alloy". I queried, but apparently they don't have steel wheels as an option on their system for mods...

We had a dusting of snow this morning (I live outside Aberdeen) following a -2 night so everything was pretty icy.
The 420 Xdrive shod with Continental winters was noticeably grippier than my shoes as I slithered round it pouring warm water on the windows!

IT may be a perception issue, but are Nokian now considered premium tyres?

I'd say for Winter tyres. Yes.

Always have been for winter tyres. There have been many makes that have specialised in winter tyres, mainstream manufacturers are now catching up.

In summary, the only brokers that require notification are Swift Cover and Southern Rock, unless the specs of the tyre are being changed, in the main.

I'm running winter tyres but unfortunately the temperature is still over 20C. They seem to be performing okay so far though.

15°C in Central London today. I'm not switching until I'm reluctant to leave the comfort of my heated seat.
