Hopefully they will be fine.

I ran Michelin Alpins for a few years but it never got really cold!

Had Bridgestone Blizzaks for a year including the Beast from the East and they were fantastic.

Currently have Hankook i cept Evo 2 winters (stupid name I know) but they got good reviews.

To update, the tyres have been fitted and my Vredestien Quatrac Pro’s have the three peaks logo. thumbup
I think you'll be ok on them. I've had them on a couple of cats year round and always been very happy with them. The latest versions look like they'll be my next purchase once the current ones are done. Improved wet weather performance suits my needs.

My cat finds his claws are enough for snow grip.

Not sure I am going to bother this year with winters, not commuting to work 6-6 everyday and able to work from home when I like at a drop of a hat (thanks COVID), has really changed my strategy.

Or...In fact I might just run them all year round when my tyres are due, as my mileage is considerably lower due to that.

But, I am a complete convert to using them, had some great fun in the snow years ago on my RWD 3 series, passing so called 4x4's spinning their wheels, the look of bemusement as I crawled past, up the incline was priceless biggrin

I recently fitted some Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres to my Tesla Model 3. In combination with the all wheel drive the car was very capable in the deep snow we had in Yorkshire this week. I was able to drive up a 1:4 hill with only minimal wheel spin (I’d set the car to slip-start to allow overriding of the traction control). Unfortunately the capability of the car is offset by the 90+% of drivers on summer tyres who got stuck on any kind of incline. Took me 5 hours to drive 10 miles. I know snowy days are quite rare in the UK but it does raise the question of whether we should have winter, or at least all-season, tyres mandatory. Can of worms I know...

A car went into the back of me as he locked up descending a hill, so having to take my Tesla in for repairs. A new bumper at least I imagine. So I’ll be getting a hire car, with presumably summer tyres, for the foreseeable.
I agree with you.

How many times each winter do we see heavy roadblocks / tailback due to snow etc, and the rhetoric blaming the lack of gritters etc when in reality people could choose to alleviate the situation greatly by fitting appropriate tyres (but choose not to).

It's the same with so many situations these days - people failing/refusing to take personal responsibility.

A new pair of Goodyear Ultragrip performance plus tyres fitted to the rear of mine to complement the old Ultragrip performance Gen 1s on the front. I’m sure we’ll have a very mild winter now.

Definitely looks better with naked steels, have exactly same setup on my E91. Not bothered this year though with winters, with working from home 90% of the time.

Quite agree. Could mandate it via insurance or base on region.

I used to run an A6 quattro with good tyres and the only issue getting around was other drivers wheel spinning their 3 series on a 5% gradient hill.

I've just got an A4 avant quattro 3.0tdi and now need to choose some tyres... smile

Bit late updating this but had my winters on for a few weeks now and they're nicely bedded in biggrin

I got a set of 18" Style 234s and had my pal refurb them and fit/balance the tyres; I went with Nexen Winguard Sport 2s. I wanted to go with Avon WV7s again like I had on my previous touring but couldn't get them in the sizes I needed (can now; they just weren't available when I was looking to purchase).

Impressed with them so far; more so as we're getting colder/wetter weather now. Quiet, very grippy and have made the 7'er very smooth to drive cool

I've not bothered this year, as I've gone down from 25,000 miles of driving to about 2,500 miles of driving, and I don't 'need' to be anywhere over the winter this year.

Maybe if I see a reasonable value set of 18" BMW wheels and/or winter/all-season tyres I might change my mind.

If i didn’t have the wheels and tyres already I’d be the same. Maybe not down to 2,500 miles per year but if it snows I can work from home.

I work from home anyways; but as I travel up/down the local country roads that are generally untreated, to training and back etc. Winters make a lot of sense for me, more so in a BMW

And with the monthly trips up to Dunkeld too!
