I've just started testing the T6 AS and it seems pretty special. Full test will be out in Feb.
So long as it isn’t the same kind of special me and my mates call each other when we do something daft, I will take that as high praise.

I will get them ordered.

hi jon - when doing tyre tests whats the script with driving aids, esp, traction control etc ?

Left on as standard, or some special tyre test setting ?

For handling it's generally as off as we can get them as they ruin consistency. In a lot of modern vehicles it's difficult to get them all the way off. I've pulled abs sensors in wheels before for snow (which can be an interesting challenge)

For things like braking and traction everything is on.

My Vredestien Quatracs are down to about 5mm and my god they've become noisy, particularly on curves, it sounds like I've got a wheel bearing out, and on the straight they sound like sand tyres on an old Landie. They've not been very quiet from the start though, and I've struggled to get them balanced too, having had to get them done a number of times. They've been good in the general wintery rain and mush but I don't rate them much for summer, ride or noise. Part of the problem might be the car though, it's so smooth and silent that putting an unsuitable non OEM tyre on, albeit standard size, makes a big difference. It's supposed to be on Bridgestone Regno GR-XII.

Possibly the car/tyre combo not great. I have half worn Quatracs on my Lexus RX400 and they are great, no noise issues either. But then it is a quiet car in the first place. Perhaps in a car with a more sporty bent there may be an issue.

Q6s are quite noisy on the Panda 4x4, but there again it's quite difficult to separate car from tyre in terms of noise!

Was wanting to try and get a winter wheels/tyres set for the XKR this year but it appears to be prohibitively expensive and a lot of hassle to find correct wheels.

In your area it may be worth it, otherwise consider all-seasons for a no storage requirement solution.

On a non performance car I'd concede that, XKR on all seasons though, no chance.

Even if I wanted to, good luck in 285/35 20's.

Well national tyres have emailed to say they haven’t got my Turanza All season 6 but they will fit Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO for no extra charge.

I have replied and said unless they are fitting either cross climate 2’s or Goodyear vector gen 3’s then I want my money back.

Picking up some spare alloys for “Winter” (Midlands). Commute is rural 35 miles.

They have tyres but it’s 2 x Pirelli winters and 2 x Continental but I can’t tell if they are All season or Winter. Just says Conti contact picture of the snow mountain and M&S.

Tread wise they look very very similar to the Pirelli which the pattern looks like this
https://www.national.co.uk/tyres/brand/pirelli/cin...

What’s the best thing to do ? They aren’t brand new so doubt the sell the exact tyres anymore for either.

Fitted Hankook Kinergy 4S, certainly quieter than the worn Primacy and Nexen that were on it before.

Good tyres, excellent on the XC70

I would wait until you've got them and you can see what the tyres are and what condition they are in.

I ended up with Goodyear vector Gen 3 tyres, hopefully they will cope fine with the wet winters we have, I doubt they see any snow sadly.

I don’t know about the Pirellis but the TS810 is an old design now (2010’ish) so it’s worth checking the date stamp on the sidewalls in case they are ancient.
