Ford Style Internal Circlips
Discussion
Faced with a similar situation at a time when all the dealer spares departments were closed I took the caliper to a local engineering supplier & found a circlip which, while not identical to the original, did the job. That car did another 40,000 miles with no further problems.
. . . & somewhere in my garage there's still a circlip lurking!

Is that not an external circlip?
Funny you should say that. Thats what I thought when I took it out, but thats what fitted to the bores on both rear callipers.. I could only surmise the tabs protruding out slightly forces a sight gap between the ring and the bore allowing it to be prised out, in the absence of deep circlip pliers.I have to admit I have seen internal circlips with the cut outs before, and I have seen internal circlips with the circlip plier holes before.
In 30+ years I have never seen both!
If I were to come across that in that position, I would be saying the wrong one had been fitted.
I could be wrong as I haven't opened up one of these before.

It came out at such a rate and hit me in the eye, it was one of those occasions where I opened my eye lid very slowly afterwards hoping that the vision was still good. After impacting my head it seemed to stay air born for about a second, until that tinkling sound of the landing was heard.. . . . & somewhere in my garage there's still a circlip lurking!
