First up a quick hello! I've been very generously gifted a 1994 Avant 1.6 from a deceased gentleman's estate. It was parked up about a year ago when it would no longer go. The family called the AA whose roadside diagnosis was a kippered hall sensor.

Rather than mess about, I'd like to just drop in an entire replacement distributor. Getting the correct part number is proving an absolute nightmare though.

Does anyone have the Bosch code?

Some sites only have 1.8 and 2.0 listed, some have 1.8 Audis but 1.6 Seats on the same part and some say nothing is compatible. The few that I've found have been Bosch 098 codes - meaning remanufactured, Ideally I'd like a BNIB box for which I'll need the 023 code, and that is also what Powerspark would need to make me something up.

Can anyone help?

Hope so! Just want to make sure it lives.

If you want the correct part, remove the old and use the part number from it.

Again if you want an original part, why not try Audi ?

ECP list one distributor ?

Ah. I should have made that clear.

I've not actually got the car at mine yet. It's about 100 miles away - the idea being I turn up with the new part, chuck it in, drive off, collect tea and medals on the way home.

I think I've found what it is now via the Classic Audi forum. Audi main dealer were about as much use as the proverbial confectionery based tea receptacle. "You do know it's 23 years old, Sir"

Brilliant.
