Hi everyone, just wondering if someone might be able to help me out here.

I have a Ford Fiesta - 03 plate - 1.4 16v and since yesterday I have noticed that when I release the handbrake or brake and then release, there is a squeaking noise. It doesn't sound like it is coming from the brake pads or discs and isn't any louder from the outside of the car than it is in the driver's seat.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Perhaps a pivot somewhere needs a drop of oil on it. It's the sort of thing that can be difficult (and dirty) to get to and fix, so unless it's really bothering you, you might want to ignore it until the next service and have it addressed then.

Sounds like the handbrake catch / pivot mechanism just needs a little clean up and some oil for it to work more freely. With this warm weather it’ll most likely be dried out.
