Daily drive air ride? Long distance
Discussion
Been looking at a car fitted with air ride recently but just not sure if air ride is any use daily driving 40miles to work and then 40 back, its a mixture of Scottish country roads (fairly rough) and a bit of the A9 (Which isnt in a pretty shape either recently, riddled with potholes).
Would air ride take a beating on those types of roads causing the bags to wear out badly and quickly.
What sort of damage could those roads cause to bags?
And are bags expensive to maintain?
Any info about air ride is appreciated.
Thanks

I had air ride fitted to my Golf (VW scene wker and all that)
It was much more comfortable than the equivalent coilovers.
I had Accuair e-level system which was care-free aside from replacing a few snapped height sensors.
At "normal" heights it was quite firm, as you went lower it got softer (makes sense with the spring rates)
This is not comparing to say a big Audi a8 on steel springs and shocks vs OEM audi air ride
I had zero issues with the bags / dampers and that was from airlift struts which were American made so I can only assume OEM-type stuff would be even better quality
of course if you have issues then it will be much more to replace, but being said you are probably better off looking for a car that is more comfortable to begin with.
