Pilot Sport 4 - Poor wear?
Discussion
PS4 tyres are down to two mil at the rear and not far off that at the front after less than 10000 miles. I was under the impression Michelin were good for their longevity? These tyres are on the family car. No track work just normal day to day driving with the odd boot now and again.
I'm interested to know if others had such experiences? I know we all have different driving styles, car size, weight etc but I find this quite a poor, or am i too unrealistic???
For info, the Cont. Sport Contact 5 that came with the car at delivery lasted to nearly 25k on the clock.
Now I do like these tyres but i'll have to have a browse around just now at options. Might even go back to Continental given the miles the last lot survived.
Thoughts?

10k Miles is brilliant. They’re ultra high performance tyres, to get that mileage out of them too is a credit to how good they are.I'm interested to know if others had such experiences? Depends on car, the roads where you drive, tire pressures and how you drive. On normal driving with occasional spirited driving more motorway means higher mileage. I have MPS4S’s and wear is good with about 8k and not that much wear. I didn’t buy them for durability but they last well. On the other hand the front tyres are Bridgestone Potenzas with 43k!! And still with 5mm thread and good grip. My car is RWD.

10000 miles on PS4?
In my dreams
If you want longer than that I'd buy some horrible disgusting cheap hard as rock rubbish, and then expect to slide off the road
Bit of an exaggeration in fairness. I've got Goodyear Eagles on my family car and they still have around 4mm left after 17,500 miles. You can get decent tyres that last far beyond 10,000 miles. In my dreams

I had PS3's on the front of my car and they lasted over 20k. The rears are still original on 34k and have 3mm left. Small 200bhp hatch.
The PS4 must be much softer?!
I had PS3’s on my hatch and got about 14k a set on the front. I’m approaching 33k on the rear with 3mm left and they’re about to get swapped to PS4. The PS4 must be much softer?!
After trying in a couple of different tyres on both my Accord Tourer and the wife's Mx5 Nc we've now both got Primacys. Both had ditch finders when we bought them. Tried Bridgestone potenzas on the 5 and then didn't last that long but had good grip, sometimes too much of you wanted a bit of fun, and tried Conti 5s on my Accord and whilst loads of grip they also disappeared quite quickly. With the Primacys there seems to be good balance of grip, fun and longevity. The fronts on my Accord have done nearly 15k and only just starting to show noticeable wear, I'll give them a bit longer then rotate front to back. The ones on the 5 that have only done about 5k are showing next to no wear.
Thanks for the replies so far folks. I'm not having a moan about it, just find it interesting to hear peoples experiences.
Some of you asked why I would put such tyres on 'the family car'. 300hp makes it fairly nippy. Sure I could spend 20-30 per corner less on say a Potenza but the PS4 has consistently scored very well amongst the testers so why not put on a car like mine?
When the Conti's came off (ok they were well worn) both the Mrs and I noticed a much better feel to the car.
Ironically I have just bought four more. Blackcircles were doing 10% off today so I ordered 4 at around £87 a tyre delivered. (225/40/18)
Cheers again.

Just replaced a pair of PS4’s on the front of our diesel mk3 Seat Leon, I’m not sure of the exact mileage they covered but in the region of 17k, mixed driving.
That compares well to 2 pairs of Continental Sport Contact 5’s, the 1st doing a similar mileage and the second not wearing so well despite similar usage.
Not spectacular but not bad, strangely the Michelin Super Sports on the front of our Mk3 Focus RS have done 16k and still have plenty of life in them. I think I tend to drive enthusiastically but my tyre and particularly brake usage doesn’t reflect it.

It's just that Ps4s aren't that sort of tyre
