Anyone else been through this? (On an Evo 6)
I've not had them THAT long, and given I live in London and don't drive to work I don't exactly put that many miles on the car, not even done a track day in over a year.
Car is currently at the garage with a nasty knock on right lock, and the car in general sounds a bit ropey when going over bumps, so the diagnosis has come back that the shocks most likely need sending off for a refurb.

Does this sound normal for Ohlins or do you think I can kick up a fuss with Ohlins directly? Unfortunately I bought them from someone on the MLR about 4 years ago (can't for the life of me remember who) but they were almost brand news from memory, so not like I was buying a set with 20,000 on them.

Ha yeah that's kind of what I thought.

I guess I'm really asking if it sounds feasible that they would need a refurb or should I be looking for something else causing these noises. It really does seem strange that the top of the range shocks are needing work doing to them without that many miles being put on them.

It's not always the miles that kills them: limited and intermittent use can be much worse for a damper than regular use (seals and spherical joints stiffen/seize in one position when left standing for long periods, then wear or fail very quickly when they get limited use).

Good point there, hard to hit the sweet spot with these cars isn't it ha ha.

Good to know though, all putting my mind at rest slightly that this isn't the most surprising thing to have happened, even if it is going to cost a bit to sort out.
