Coilovers - Install query
Discussion
Hello guys!
I've got a MK5 R32 DSG. I took it in for a service a couple of weeks ago and was told my front left shock absorber was weeping.
I took this as an opportunity to purchase some KW coilovers.
I'm a pretty good DIY'er when it comes to working on the car, and have started the install earlier today & am hoping to finish them up tomorrow before taking it for an alignment in the coming week.
What I'd like some clarity on is where should they be set to at initially? The fronts I have the adjuster wound all the way down, so the spring is at it's longest. I'm hoping this gives me the the 35mm of drop they're advertised as. Am I right in thinking this?
Also where should I set the rear adjusters to match the fronts 35mm drop?
Thanks in advance!

Ride height is not set by the spring height. That's preload. This explains the basic process if they're height adjustable.
To get the same drop before you fit them, measure to a defined point on the car on all four corners. Fit them and go drive to settle the car. Then adjust as needed. Rough and ready and no-where close to corner weighting but should work.
