Well, unfortunately today In the car whilst stationary waiting for oncoming traffic to clear I was rear ended quite hard on the nearside.

Although the car was drivable the short distance home after the accident I noticed the steering wheel was not sat level when driving in a straight line.

What do we think chaps? Twisted chassis/write off?

When you say nearside, did the other car actually hit the wheel?

If yes, then probably not and just needs some new arms/alignment, however if they didn't hit the wheel that suggests twisted chassis or boot floor etc.

What car?

It's got to be pretty bad to have either affected the steering column and wheel or its relation to the seat, so the floor pan under the driver seat?

No impact directly to the wheels at the front, the rear of the car & bumper took the full force of the crash. I was stationary with the footbrake on at the time. (Mk 8 Fiesta by the way).

If one of your back wheels is no longer pointing forward, you will have to compensate by steering the front wheels.

Bent track rod or similar steering component, as the front wheels were locked under braking.

He was rear ended, how would his track rod/similar get bent.

OP, it sounds like you need to get the car checked out properly, could be a simple suspension joint, could be a simple adjustment, could be a bent chassis, could be a bent subframe, no one on here can possibly say without checking it out.

You can make simple side-to-side comparison measurements with the steering straight ahead as a starting point, but I would be getting it straight to a proper chassis specialist.
