Hey fellas, I'm here for a quick advice. It seems that my new cam belt (fitted about 4 months ago) have intermittent squeaking issue, which happens only on cold engine for about 5 minutes after starting it. It's not even persistent, when car is used daily it goes away after a week and everything is fine, but when I don't use it for a week or so it comes back. I was able to track down the issue and I'm 90% sure that the cam belt tensioner is to blame here since it's not set up correctly - arrow doesn't match the grooves on it. That's how it sounds like: https://youtu.be/GCg8egK_pPI

And now here's the question, can I adjust it myself, having all the tools necessary, without pulling everything apart? It can be easily accessed by taking the top cam belt cover off.

Thanks for your input!

If it was done by a garage take it back & find out if the tensioner was replaced when you get them to do the job properly.

It came as a whole kit, so I believe it was replaced as well. The thing is they have no idea what are they doing, and when I came back to them with the issue they replaced alternator pulley - which is on auxiliary belt, despite me telling them that it's the cam belt that makes noise...

Adjust it up. Go back and forth with it to settle it as they can be a bit funny. Also make sure the lug is in right which if its not running off the n it should be.

The 8p is one of the easiest ones to do.
