Tyre options!? 225/50/15
Discussion
Hi all
Currently converting my track car back to a road car
It runs wide arches and I have two sets of 15inch wheels.
7inch front 8 inch rear on a MK3 MR2 Toyota
I've ran Yoko a052 and r888rs 205/50/15, 225/50/15
Now I work shifts so night time and very wet driving is going to happen, so tracks tyres won't really work.
It seems with all modern cars having such huge wheels the selection of 15 inch tyres has really dropped.. I looked at going to 16s but the choice isn't much better.
I can find 205. But not 225, only the new toyo tr1s..
Does anyone know of any other really good tyres in these sizes they can recommend?
Cheers

You'll struggle in that size unfortunately. This has been a problem for Mk2 MR2 owners for years; that's the standard 15 inch size for the rear of a Mk2 MR2. As you've found out, there's only really track day tyres available, and the mediocre Toyo you've mentioned. (And a hugely expensive Pirelli that I believe is the front tyre size for a Lamborghini Countach or something like that)
Most Mk2 owners change to 16 or 17 inch.
