I need to get the pitman arm off my T2 steering box, I tried my scissor type splitter but the jaws aren't wide enough, have bought these but not had a chance to try them yet. Will let you know if they are any good or not.

For general ball joints, downward pressure and a smack from a pair of lump hammers either side has worked for me previously.
Hate to break it to you, but I very much doubt they will work, they will just bend (as they're 'one-sided') or break. You'll need a meaty beam and two leg type hydraulic bearing puller at the least, but I've had to resort to slotting and splitting them off before.

Thanks all, tool on order will let you know how I get on
As promised, bit of feedback. Went for a Laser tools ball joint separator, got it off ebay for £20. Nothing special but well made, decent unit for the home mechanic as usual with Laser Tools I've found so far. And yes, I do like to copper slip every thread in sight.

Fitted spot on to the ball joint and the rear tie rods.

Popped them all off now, needed a fair bit of pressure on a couple of them, they've been in over 15 years after all, but tool never felt like it was going to break or slip.

Cheers for the advice all, well happy, another tool to add to the collection
