Springs... upside down?
Discussion
Hey everyone. I had my springs and shocks changed about six months ago. My car was in a different garage today for some unrelated work and they say they think but aren't certain my springs are on upside down, and aren't seated correctly.
Obviously one garage is wrong but it don't know which one!
This is what they look like... Thoughts? I have no idea personally what they're supposed to look like. Car is a Mk5 golf gti.

Is that a MK5 Golf?
I don't think you can fit them the wrong way round.
From memory, I think the spring is narrow, as in it doesn't sit to the edge of the perch like most springs.

Well a bit of an update - I took it back to the garage that fitted the springs for me, and it all looks okay to me, and to them. There's a code written on the springs that are the correct way up, and the seating looks fine in the cups. Really no idea what the other garage were talking about!

A photo showing the whole spring would really help here.
Normally, the tighter part of the spring, as in where it is wound closer, sits at the top.
But without seeing the whole thing in one pic it is difficult to say.
There just isn't the space to get that, but anyway I've been back to the garage that fitted them in the first place and they've convinced me they're correct. They put it on a ramp and showed me how they're seated and that the code on the spring is the correct way up. No idea what the second garage thought they were looking at.
