I would be grateful for some assistance with an issue I have with the tracking on my 04 Merc CLK500.

The car always pulls to left & no matter where I have gone to, it doesn't seem possible to track it back so that it goes straight when the steering wheel is top dead centre.

The tyre pressures are fine, the suspension has been checked & that's fine, so all I can think of is that it that there is something awry with the tracking. Can anyone assist?

Have you had the tracking checked? Have all the suspension bushes, springs, dampers all been checked thoroughly? Sometimes a simple perished bush can cause big problems.
How are the tyres wearing and are they all the same type / size?

Maybe you need to go back to Mercedes to get a full geometry check and get the steering centralised?

Had it checked again this morning. They have straightened the wheel, but suggest I need some offset camber bolts to adjust the camber correctly. I really hope this fixes it, as the set of tyres I had replaced yesterday were worn through to the canvas on the inside edge of the osf, yet were only about 20% worn on the nsf!!!!

I had similar issues with two Mercs and whilst trying to get it sorted I also heard some breath-taking rubbish - "pulling to the left is a safety feature in case you fall asleep or die at the wheel" no less.

They were both sorted by a 4-wheel 'geo alignment' at the dealer. I was told they are pretty sensitive to the alignment at the rear, this makes them follow the camber and you put more wear on your front tyres constantly correcting at the steering wheel.

It was pricey, but completely worth it.

Too much "toe out" could also cause that........Do Mercs have camber adjustment, or is in normally fixed?

Seems its not a one off, googling around ive found this:

Date of purchase was 01/10/2005 service#1.1st wheel alignment was on 01/18/2005 mileage in was 788 miles, the front & rear, both had to be re-aligned, replaced parts were wheel camber/caster-l side/adjust install bolt kits and wheel camber/caster-r side/adjust install bolt kits and car was tested to verify pull to the right, they found camber on left front out of specs also vehicle has a 0.14 split in caster r&r two lower encap panels install caster kit on right front and install camber kit on left front perform four wheel alignment road test car after the car was completed. service #2. at 1,766 i requested another wheel alignment because the car began pulling to the right again. service #3 04/25/2005 at 6174 miles and 05/10/2005 at 6,310 miles after high speed panic stop on interstate 15 north a semi trailer truck swerved into the passing lane causing me to slam on my brakes to avoid the trailer on the highway. this immediately caused the car to begin to shake, shimmy and rattle down the freeway until i could reach a safe stopping point. i could not stop on the freeway i was in the middle of the desert and traffic was extremely high. this panic stop required me to get another wheel alignment. service #4. 06/21/05 at 8,548 miles service director of mercedes-benz tom fox test drove my car and he agreed that the car pulls hard to the right changing lanes by itâ¿¿s self. They (mercedes-benz of san diego) are tying to tell me that it is normal for this car to pull to the right?

They do have camber adjustment - by means of offset bolts.
