Ford Escort GTi - front brake stake on

I've got a 97 Ford Escort GTi and the front offside brake was stuck on when I got in the car this morning, but it was ok when I drove it home yesterday. I've had to wake the missus up to give me a lift to work, any ideas on what it could be please?

I've been told it might be a collapsed flexible brake pipe.
