I have a Mondeo ST220, and need to replace the rear sub frame bushes. i have decided to replace the standard one's with powerflex polyurethane one's.

I have read in some threads and also been told by Ford, that the bushes need to be glued in place and then allowed to set for 24hrs.

First question: Is this actually needed? I have spoken to a couple of mechanics, and they both said its the first they've heard.

Also, when i asked Ford what type of glue they use, get this, the were unable to tell me. Does anyone know what sort of glue is required?

I have a firend that will do the labour for £80, but leaving it to set for 24hrs and what type of glue are causing a problem. I'm considering taking it to Ford who are going to charge £180 labour, just because it will probably be easier.

Do you think this is Ford's plan, to try and complicate the job so you go to them unnecessarily?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Have you asked powerflex for their advice on fitting their bushes?

When i spoke to them they didn't seem to know much about fitting. They were't even sure if they made the part? They do though.

The problem with Powerflex is, they caught fire just before Christmas, and are trying to get things back up and running again.

Might give them another call and see. The lady i spoke to didnt reallt seem to know much to be honest.

Cheers

Therein lies your problem. Their website has clear pictorial instructions showing how to fit their bushes.
If you don't fit the bushes according to their instructions you are likely to have issues in the event of a warranty claim or an incident where it is shown the bushes or their method of fitment was contributory.

Could also be argued that these bushes are not standard fitment & your insurers should be notified as the car is now modified!rolleyes

You do not have to have poly bushes glued in. Local garage fitted mine for £40.
