What to put on after shotblasting?

Just going to send some parts of an old motorcycle to get shotblasted,the blaster usually coats the stuff in red oxide afterwards.What's the best way to paint this when i get it back?Take the oxide off and start from scratch?,or is there a good spray putty product i can put over his red oxide to smooth down to give me a surface to paint?I'll probably be using 2k paints,cheers.

Ideally the bare metal should be coated with 2K epoxy primer.
Most other primers are porous,epoxy isn't plus you can overcoat with pretty much anything...including filler !
