Hi,

Has anybody any experience with or know of anybody who has used this product:

www.chipex.co.uk

I have a metallic black Porsche Boxster which has a few minor scratches/chips on it and also the usual stone chips.

This seems like it could work, but wanted to know if anybody had used it before?

Thanks

I have. Not quite a perfect match for me, but I've had all kinds of grief with paint matching for full resprays, so don't take that too seriously. It's a fairly foolproof process and works well especially for chips rather than scratches. I'd recommend, and it gets good press from the folk on Alfaowner.

I have used the Chipex kit before. I did a stone chip repair to a clients car, a Matt grey Alfa Brera. To be honest the match was fine, and if it was going to look bad it was going to be on something like a Matt finish car.

Im sure the product is great for the odd stonechip but if your front end is shot to bits how good do you think its going to look dabbing and smudging paint on each chip? Give it a go by all means im sure it will improve the car but dont expect perfection!

Just to add, I swear by chipex. The best type of touch up I have ever used. Good match and really easy to apply and get a good finish unlike normal touch up. Also like the fact you can apply to to "rash" quite liberally with the end of your finger and then use the blending solution.

Also they never seem to provide enough of the nice little brushes that come in the kit, and charge a lot if you want replacements... Well the brushes are actually from eyelash extension suppliers and can be sourced on ebay:

Just got myself another 25 for £3 quid delivered, identicle.

Couldn't find a more recent thread. Have just ordered the Chipex kit for a small chip and a small scratch. Anyone else used Chipex recently?

All it really is is touch up paint with very fine touch in brushes. all the the other instructions about what and how to use it imo are a waste of time . I just use it as a touch in for small chips.
