A long yesterday today with a friends 1974 Morgan Plus 8
Its an early model, narrow body, 4 speed box and been in the same family since new.
Inherited by my friend after his father died its still done less than 29000 miles and will be going up for sale soon
Asked for a general spruce up but could not resist going a bit beyond that. It was resprayed back in the 1980's and the paint was very flat and lifeless, surprisingly though the clay bar picked up little in the way of contamination.
List of work and products
Washed with Autobrite Magifoam
Clayed with Bilt Hamber mild clay
Megs MF pad and Correction Compound
Poorboys Black Hole
Autobrite Distinction Wax
Full exhaust (both sides) cleaned with mild wire wool and Autosol
Underbody / arches - cleaned with Surfex
Wheels treated with Autobrite Very Cherry - being a rough cast alloy there was no chance of doing any more than getting them clean
Tyres dressed with Autobrite Berry Blast
Spare wheel removed and petrol tank / rear frame cleaned with Surfex
Engine bay cleaned with Surfex and dressed with 303, alloy parts cleaned with Autosol
Carpets removed, cleaned with AG Interior Shampoo
Interior trim was a problem being 38 year old vinyl, previous cleaning had seen parts taken through the base colour so a gentle wipe down with warm soapy water and gently agitated was the order of the day. Dressed with Autobrite Pink Sheen. Being charitable you'd say the interior has retained a lovely patina
Sidescreens windows were jammed with dirt in the channels so were cleaned out, vinyl was treated with Autobrite Citrus Wash and windows cleaned with AG Fast Glass
Tonneau cover and hood cleaned with 303 Convertible top cleaner
All exterior metal / chrome cleaned with Autosol
All in took me about 11 hours but a lovely car to work on
No befores as it was not a basket case but here are some of the car when finished
