What wax/polish for a black car?
Discussion
My bella needs a bit of a spruce up in the paint department. It's a black estate, so I dare say it will take a bit of wax to do the whole thing.
I'm not doing any fancy cleaning routine beforehand - just a good wash and drying off.
My criteria:
- No more than 15 quid
- Easy to apply, and easy to clean off, without having to wait hours to complete the process; I just want to apply it, and get rubbing (so to speak)
- I want to avoid load of white powder as a result(like the good old MER days)
- Minimal swirling etc
At my disposal:
- 2 hands
- Soft polishing cloths (the cut to length jobs)
- An old t-shirt
Ideally, as I have a Halfords voucher to hand, I want to get it from there.
Ideas?

Halfords sell a kit called Turtle Wax Black Box (no sniggering at the back) which is specifically designed for black paint. Might be a bit more expensive than your budget though, and maybe a bit more work too (as it is a multi-stage product...
...hmm, should have put a bit more thought into this, shouldn't I?!

PoorBoys Black Hole Glaze is a good start for removing swirls and getting a good shine. You'll need wax on top of that, Natty's Blue would be a good match. Unfortunately each one is about £15, but worth it.

If it has to be Halfords available (better to go for online products tbh imo) then wait till they have their 3 for 2 offer on and get:
Megs quick clay (to remove contaminents)
Autoglym Super Resin Polish (to help correct the paint, also has fillers in so will help to slightly hide the marks you can't polish out)
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (to protect your paint from contaminent build up, bird droppings etc)
Should see all 3 for around £30 with the offer and the SRP and EGP will last you at least a year if not more.
You're better to prep the paint properly otherwise you'll wonder why the wax you've bought doesn't really make your car look much better. If you can't be bothered with the prep and just want something to protect your paint then go for a pot of Natty's blue. From an online vendor it'll be about £12.99 plus p&p and wait a couple of days for it to arrive in the post.
Once you get the cleaning bug you'll want to move up to the likes of Dodo, Auto Finesse, Swissvax etc.

If only want to spend 15 quid than I believe your wasting your time. While using lots of elbow grease your mind will be telling your eyes that you can see an improvement for a bargain 15 quid, but in reality deep down and only realised on a sunny day afterwards that it was a waste of time. Sorry for the negative advice, but have been there already.

Second vote for poorboys ... Find it as good as waxes that cost three times as much .. But he key to any result is alars h prep and doing it properly. http://www.perfectlycleaned.co.uk/poorboys-black-h...
