The cara mechanically sound but i didnt realise how poor toyota is for bodywork and paint?

What can i hse to stick the side skirt back down where its peeling off i can see yellow gunk glue stuff under it a littke at the back and also whats a way to fix the laquer clear bit before it gets worse? The stone chips i know i can get touch up kit from halfords.

Can I just point out the car is 10-11 years old ,just what did you expect ?

lacquer peel can't be recovered unless a full coat. you could spray yourself but is it really worth it, just use some good wax.

To be fair Toyota do offer a 12 year paint warranty but that will not cover stone chips/scuffs and damaged areas which have not been repaired and as a result have subsequently got worse.

It sounds like your car has previously had some (bad) paint/bodywork repairs that involved the side skirts being taken off.
It's very rare for original lacquer to peel - and thinking about it logically if the original paint had always of chipped as easily as your saying it is now, then there probably wouldn't be any paint left on it.
I'm afraid to say what you're describing could quite possibly the result of DIY repairs during its 10 or 11 year life - rather than a Toyota 'fault'.

As someone has already said the peeling lacquer should be looked at by a professional ..... but be warned .... if I'm correct that it has had a previous (bad) repair then the whole extent of that repair will probably need removing and re-doing to ensure it doesn't start peeling somewhere else.

Yeah upon closer inspection it looks like its had a poor diy attempt at it 2 previous women owners on car. (hence the scuffs on rear as they obviously didnt know where the car ended).
I have also managed to aquire a small dent that someones done amd not said amything not 100 percent sure I can pull it out its around the flimsy bit near wheel arch. *sigh* might as well try and sell it on soon and buy something newer.

my car has scratches, i ust wax it ever so often. if it runs i would keep it. Use for a while. it sounds like buyers remorse. a smart repairer might be worth a quote at the least.
