Hi all,
I'm looking at buying an old Rangie that needs tlc on the leather front.
What are your recommendations?
I don't care about the leather smell, but it needs to restore colour, nourish the leather so it doesn't dry and crack and last the test of time, as I don't want to do anything t again for a good year or so.
Thanks :-)

Give it a couple of weeks. The leather will be the least of your problems.I'm looking at buying an old Rangie that needs tlc on the leather front.

If leather has become very dry, close to cardboard, neatsfoot oil is a good and cheap treatment. It requires a lot less effort than most of the branded products and often (but not always) penetrates past the sealant coatings. If the leather hasn't recovered after a couple of coats on the outside surface, and if you have the energy, take the covers off and apply a small amount on the reverse.
