DIY painting alloy wheels

Anybody had experience using off-the-shelf aerosol cans?

Any recommendations on manufacturers/products/colurs (just want a good clean 'alloy' finish - nothing fancy)?

Did the Compomotive five spokes on my Quantum with some Holts/Dupli-Color Five Wheel Silver as they had mild kerbing marks and discolouration when I got it.

Looked so much better afterwards.

As always with painting, preparation and a good surface is key to getting a good finish.
