Bodyshop masking before painting - which is best practice?
Discussion
Rear wheelarch needs repair and painting. Have been to 2 bodyshops.....
Both would drop rear bumper and remove rear light to mask up.
Bodyshop#1 - Would mask to the edge of the panel where it meets the bumper/light and door shut
Bodyshop#2 - would mask a couple of cm inside door shut/ bumper etc.
Bodyshop#1 said it is better to spay to the edge as it is convex and therefore easy to polish. They said if you mask inside doorshut then it is hard to polish without removing surround clear coat as it is concave.
