I've recently resprayed my RST escort in 2 pak diamond white base paint to a reasonable standard which i'm happy with and now its given me the confidence to paint my metallic blue 3i
So what gun should I buy and can i use the same gun for base paint and lacquers ? I've heard that devilbiss offer decent duns for around £140
Any suggestions greatly received

Pretty much any spraygun that takes your fancy.
Devilbiss have been around for years & are of good quality. As are Sata & Iwata - both of which I use for SMART repair.
I'd advise a gravity fed gun.
No reason why you can't use the same gun for colour coats & for clearcoat.
You will need to thoroughly clean the gun out between the two but you should do that after you've done anyway - as I'm sure you're aware with 2k materials you have a limited potlife once mixed & leaving it too long can make cleaning the gun a real headache.
Depending on the Tech Data Sheets (TDS) you should get with your chosen paint & clear you may need to change the fluid set-up for the different materials.
You will need a moisture separator between the compressor & the gun. Drain this & the tank periodically. You'll be surprised just how much water you'll get out.
A small pressure gauge/regulator fitted to the bottom of the gun - some of the more expensive have one inbuilt - will allow you to get the pressure at the gun right for the material you are using. If you set it at the compressor there will be a drop in the line so it will be lower at the gun.
What provision have you made for breathing protection?
ETA. Not used them, but these might give you an idea of the various guns & other equipment: https://www.spraygunsdirect.co.uk/index.php/sprayg...
