So have done a fair bit of spraying over the years, some good some bad, some requiring redo a number of time before I was satisfied. The major delimiter seems to be the weather conditions which are so fickle in this country. I'm having to use a garage which is fairly cold to prevent dust, and therefore the drying isn't ideal as its a big area to maintain even temperature in. I've used normal spotlights with some success but feel I really need to invest in some infrared heaters if I am going to improve my success rate.

Its only a hobby so the budget is important, any suggestions?

I use them all the time & currently have 4. They heat what they point out so won't work to warm up your workshop.

Quick google shows lots & the prices a re somewhat variable!
Mine look much like the Iwata ones here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/273057799180?chn=ps&a...

Be careful you don't drop the light unit & also make sure the screw that adjusts their height on the pole is tight, if it isn't they can slide down the pole & the thump at the bottom can break the bulb.

You will also need one of the infra red thermometers to keep an eye on the panel temperature as it can get very hot very quickly!

I was going to go mad and pay out for this one. Only because I have had to do small panels in the past, but was slightly put of by the fact that you can't seem to alter the angle of the units wrt to each other. Not sure if that is a problem or not. I have a IR thermometer which I use

How expensive are the bulbs and are they long lasting? Wouldn't want to buy something when you can't get easy replacement bits

Put an elastic band around the bottom of the pole - it acts like a brake and stops the light unit without it getting a thump wink

Touch wood I've only had bulbs go from dropping - and some have survived a couple of drop tests.
Been a while since I've bought one but IIRC it was around £30. Available online, ebay etc.

ETA If you use them with an extension cable you MUST fully unroll the cable.
