This polyurethane sealant has been used to attach headlamp covers to the headlamp housings on my Elise, one of which now needs to be replaced following stone chip damage.

Does anyone know which solvents can be used to remove it without damaging the paintwork and fibreglass, or have any experience of other methods that can be used without causing damage?

Panel cleaner, it's a degeasant you get from paint suppliers, I've used it quite a bit on wet sealant but I guess it'll work after it's gone off. Safe on paint

I'd use a bit of nylon string, fishing line or similar (use it like a ceese cutter)

I sold the stuff for 11 years and believe me I knackered lots of clothes through demos of the stuff to customers!Anything that dissolves Sikaflex is also likely to dissolve the substate to which it is attached!
The only way to remove it then is with a very thin blade or cut through with a cheesewire.
This is the same method of removal as your windscreen fitter uses.
Why? Because car screens are bonded in with urethane too.....
