First of all im wanting to know if the d.a polisher halfords do for 80 pounds is good? Id rather order something i can easily return if it goes faulty.

Also i have a lot of stone chips on my car. Usually the process to repair is using chipex paint in dots over the chips then wiping back down with alcohol solution to level it out, if im going to polish my car with a d.a, could i not dab paint into the chips as normal, let it set and then polish off the excess/raised bit, or would that not work at all?

Its just using the chipex kit takes forever by the time you dab the paint in and then wipe it back off then polish etc.

Get this (same machine) from Argos, £25 cheaper

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4645777

You wont be able to polish the blobs of paint away, all you'll do is make the blobs shiney. If you are going to use Chipex, then use their solution to remove the excess paint.

When you said the Halfords one I thought you were referring to this (which is the same machine as sold in Argos)

The Argos Challenge one is excellent. Worth changing the backplate for a few pounds though.

It's not a bad little machine to dip ones toe into machine polishing.

If someone wanted one and didnt need it now, there are cheaper online, like

Here
https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/KATSU-600w-Power-Dual-Act...

And here
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01J6J24X6/ref=asc_df_...

All the same machine, but with different branding.

Well for a start a quick read of the reviews tells you that the argos one has a short cable and vibrates a lot.

On the other hand the halfords one has a long cable and has minimal vibration.

So they aint the same machine.

I'll type this slowly for you.

They...are...the...same...machine.

Regardless, it's your money and you can spend it how you like, I really couldnt care any less.

But for anyone else reading this thread, they may appreciate the option of spending less for the same machine.

Given your OP, you clearly know as much about this subject as you do about the stock market. Why you cant accept that there are people that have more knowledge and experience in this than you do comes across as slightly arrogant.

I get it that youre a bit peeved that you have (probably) spent more money on the Halfords machine already, when you could have quite easily bought it elsewhere cheaper. But dont muddy the thread with false information, when it could help others looking to buy one of these machines.

That being said, I'm done with trying to help and educate those who would rather sit in denial.

I'm out.

Fair enough ive looked into it and it does appear to be the same, however halfords comes with more pads etc.

Is just the one pad on the argos one okay to polish the car with? Or do i need to faff about using fine finishing pads and so on. Im not looking for the best ever finish i can get but equally dont want a st finish.

I have meguiars ultimate compound and autoglym super resin polish.

Anyone reccomend a D.A polisher for 120 or less (christmas money).

Ideally i want an easy to use one which comes with all the pads i need so theres no faffing about.

Cheers.

This one is a little more (£135) but also includes various polishing compounds

If £120 is your limit then this one comes in at £100 giving you a little left over for product

I think you can get 10% of your first order
