Adjust VW Touran rear hatch
Discussion
Any bodywork types can help me with this, I have a VW Touran and the back hatch was always slightly uneven when closed, maybe accident repair, anyway it seems to have got worse, squeaking when on bumpy roads and the gaps are nearly closed on the right, with a thumb width on the right. Before I go loosening torx screws will-nilly, any guidance? Thanks
It's been a while since I've done one. If there is no adjustment on the torx bolts, you may have to drop the roof lining to gain access to the hinge bolts and move the tailgate to the desired position. I would also remove the gas struts and the striker on the rear panel because you'll be fighting against them otherwise. Once aligned make sure all bolts are tight before refitting the gas struts and striker, the striker can also affect the alignment and so the tailgate shouldn't "drag" on the striker when opening and closing.
Hope this helps.
