Cleaning exhaust tips
Discussion
One thing that bugs me is how chrome exhaust tips always end up black with burnt-on crud. I never thought I'd ask this on a forum, but how do you guys keep your tips clean?
I had a go on the 996, using Autosol plus a dremel with felt pad. They definitely came out a bit better, but it took me a good 30 minutes per tip and 4/5 polishing pads. Far from perfect:
This week I had a go on the Merc, using 0000 steel wool, first with water, then with autosol. I spent about 10-15 minutes on each and the results are pretty good (still not perfect!):
Does anybody have any less time consuming methods of cleaning them? And how to keep them clean once they're done?
