Does anyone have any experience of spraying their own diamond cut alloys, my 2015 gtd has them, I like the finish but I would rather them be gloss black like the rest of the rim.

I am going to attempt it myself but looking for some advice as I am struggling to find any online, can I just sand down the front face and colour match that with the rest of the rim? Or do I need to sand down the whole thing?

If anyone knows of another post where this has been discussed please link it below.

Thanks

Sand the whole thing, easier to get a good finish and colour matching won’t be an issue. 100% effort on the prep work for wheels or the finish will suck.

Can you just hand sand it with wet and dry? Or do I need to machine sand it?

When i spray it, does it need priming, spraying and laquering? Sorry if the questions are a bit noddy, I am a novice, only sprayed a few bits of plastic trim before.

In my experience, spraying wheels is one of those jobs you wish you'd never started.

Labour-intensive and spraying the nooks and crannies from all different angles can easily result in runs or uneven paint, especially with rattle cans.
A decent job takes primer, colour and lacquer and they're not cheap, by the time you've finished.

Satin black is easier but doesn't look as good.

When you finally finish one wheel and see you've still got 3 to go, you'll wish you had just taken them for a refurb.
