I'm struggling a bit to get swirls and cobwebbing out of my 2014 mini clearcoat. Up yo now I've been using a DA (which isn't going to change to an orbital any time soon) using a combination of White Chemical Guys pad and originally Megs 205, then 105 then currently Menzerna 2500 but although it feels smooth, it's still showing cobwebbing under sunlight.

Should I be trying something else? Or am I risking clearcoat failure? For reference, I think I've attempted the bonnet once each using each product with 1/2 passes. Is this paint just hard?

MINI's tend to have medium/hard clearcoat..age and colour dependent of course.

A DA will correct MINI paint no problems at all, you just need the right polish/pad and up the number of polishing passes considerably.

Rupes yellow pad with their D-A Coarse followed by their white finishing pad and D-A Fine polish should see you well.

If you don't get the desired correction level after one hit of the aforementioned yellow pad combo just complete another polishing set as opposed to swapping to a more aggressive pad/polish combo.

Cheers,

Chris
