Though on a serious not why is heading considered better for paintwork than sheeting? I’ve never quite got why?

Edited by Driver5324 on Friday 22 January 23:28
Both should be apparent on properly protected paintwork..

Drizzle or light rain will produce beading when the droplets just build up on the surface.

When it’s properly sealed you dry most of the car by sheeting all the water off with an open hose, the beading is just better for photos.

Careful now, the detailing geeks will be quick to point out that AG resin is a mild cutting agent with relatively little protection and is nothing on whatever brand of poly synthetic voodoo juice mixed with an extract from one of only 3 trees that exist in the deepest part of the Brazilian rainforest wink
A d mixed with the tears of angels and unicorns.
Super resin polish ? Stage 1 complete then. Now the op just needs to glaze, seal and wax his pride and joy.
Hopefully he'll report back and post pictures of the finished article (some time in 2022 when he has regained the use of his arms). wink
Been there, done it, waste of time and money. Now it's SImoniz wash and wax (cheap yet one of the best shampoos I've used). Then a layer of AG SRP and then a layer of AG EXP. Job done, no fuss.

P.S. AG SRP has no cut to it if anyone wanted to know.

Just Googled "MX-5ND2". It's not, as I first wondered, a microwave oven. It did seem strange someone was excited about applying polish to a kitchen appliance.

I sort of 'get' detailing when it transforms some neglected thing with swirls and such like and I do admire a really well presented car but the anal levels of geekery some go to is beyond me. What I don't get is when Kevin spends hours getting his car looking spot on, then hoses it down just to get some close up pictures of water beading for posting posterity. Each to their own. I'm also probably just bitter as two kids plus wife means my cars are disaster zones... neither have been washed for months.

It is because of my wife and 2 kids that my car is so clean! biggrin Rare time to myself where I can switch the brain off from everything else in the world and focus on something simple like making the car shiny smile

Exactly the same here. I love detailing as I can switch the brain off for a few hours and focus on the task in hand.

Yes... the whole thing is about getting some satisfaction over a good job when so many another aspects of life are a roller coaster ride!

I find it therapeutic - Have always liked a clean car whilst not being into "Extreme-Detailing".. I get it though if others are happy just washing their cars once in a while with Fairy Liquid (Other Washing Up Liquids are available!)

I think that you mean fifty one layers of wax!

Here's a quote from the post:

"So even though i fully appreciate that white is never going to benefit from the looks like any other colour it is a personal goal for me over 3 weeks to apply 51 layers 3 layers per day with the zfx kit..

I am hoping that the car will then be protected enough ready for my Wax of choice Swissvax Crystal Rock the best wax ive personally ever used... Speaking to Paul of Miracle Deatil i decided to apply 3 layers at the end for the wetness and overall look i am trying to achieve , i could have gone for one or the other but i never do anything by halves and Paul fully appreciated what i am trying to achieve..

So i now decided to give the car a full Isopropanol wipe down mixed 50:50 with Evian spring water.."

The car is used throughout winter but cleaned reasonably frequently, it’s ceramic coated with Gtechniq crystal serum ultra and topped up now and then with Gtechniq c2v3.

Like others have said, having a go at a bit of amateur detailing is a good way of blocking out everything else that’s going on around you smile
