Water based paint
Discussion
WATERBORNE PAINT
advantages
it is less of a pollutant
much less aggressive than solvent paint
Has greater covering power than solvent paint
There is very little new technology put into solvent paint these days, you have better chance of a good match with waterborne.
Disadvantages
Really needs to painted in a spraybooth as it needs air movement and a little heat to dry it.
It really is hard work spraying in a lockup or in a workshop
It takes longer than solvent for the basecoat to dry
Yes local repairs in waterborne are not a problem
Touch up in waterborne yes but needs to overcoated with a clearcoat or it will just wash off
Solvent paint wins hands down for touch up's as it can withstand the weather
