My accumate has bitten the dust after I left it connected up and the lights still on for a week in the Chimaera rolleyes

Are Accumate still the preferred choice of batter conditioner these days or are there better now? Can anyone recommend a replacement?

Thanks in advance
Cad

I bought a CTEK one around 10 years ago following recommendations. Still working fine but I'm sure the model has been superceded. biggrin

We've got 5 CTEKs (various models of different ages) connected to a selection of cars and farm vehicles. Never had an issue with any of them in 10+ years and they basically running continuously.

I bought a CTEK MXS 5.0 a few weeks back to replace my dead Optimate. I got it for my motorbike but they recommend it for batteries up to 110ah. Came with battery clips and a lead to leave connected to the battery, and as an added bonus is waterproof. Seems to do the job well so far.

I've got a pair of Accumates (one of them hardwired into my Chimaera) and been very happy with them over the past 5-7 years or so

My CTEK has been great since I bought it about 18 months ago.

NOCO genius 7200 has been doing the job for me for 3-4 years now.

I expect your TVR won't have a AGM battery but worth considering your charger has an AGM mode as this is more common on newer cars.

I also have a CTEK 3.8 but it has no AGM mode so I had to replace it with some Chinese amazon type thing which has also been problem free. It does have an AGM mode though.

CTEK 5.0 works well for me.
I also have some cheaper Aldi/Lidl ones which are okay but don’t seem to last.

Edit. My ctek 5.0 has an AGM mode.

The car has a Bosch S4 027.

The Accumate does not reach the 'fully charged' green light status since leaving it on with the lights on the car. It does however get very hot. Maybe I've burnt it out.

Seems like the CTEK is popular. I'll have a gander at them.

Thanks for the recs so far.
