Safest wheel cleaner on machined alloys

I'd recommend Valet Pro's Bilberry wheel cleaner as you can dilute it to what you need (i keep one bottle of strong dilution for when the wheels are bad and a lesser dilution for everyday cleaning). Autosmart's Smart Wheels is similar and also excellent.
Bilt Hamber's autowheels is excellent, but i think for a regular wash (i.e every week or fortnightly) i'd say its a little harsh especially if you have a good wheel coating on there anyway, it just wont be needed that often if your wheels are sealed with a good wax, sealant or ceramic coating. Its not acidic, but it will defo discolour and fade some plastic wheel caps if used regularly over time in my experience.

I use bilt hamber for a deep clean every 6 months then a weekly clean with the below, very easy to maintain that way.
No real need for harsh chemicals.
I do use gyeon wet coat on the wheels too.

+1 for BH. By a long margin the best wheel cleaner on the market. If you’re really after great looking wheels, though, I’d take them off, give them a machine polish and coat them with Gtechniq C5 ceramic coating first. The brake dust will wash away easily with normal shampoo and pressure washing. It’s one of the first jobs I do when getting a new car.

Good advice, all of the wheels I've either bought or had on a car have been treated with the ceramic coating, seems to work a treat. Last year I bought some Swissvax Autobahn wheel wax. Like all Swissvax products it was very expensive for such a small pot but it did four sets of wheels easily and all I do is just use a gentle shampoo to get them like new.Gassing Station | Bodywork & Detailing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
