another fibreglass question

The car i'm getting ready to paint is still in gel coat 10 years after it was made its never been on the road yet as i bought it as a part built kit to strip down and start again
the thing i'm worried about is that under the gel coat it looks like its lost or losing its colour, i'm wondering if its a common fault with fibreglass or could it be more serious?
As i say I will be painting it anyway but i dont want to finish it and then find out i could have problems in the future

Fading is quite common with gelcoat. As long as you apply a good acid etch primer and two pack colour coat it should have no effect on your painting.

cheers for that, the last fibreglass car I painted had no gelcoat left after all the rubbing down needed to get rid of all the cracks
