Ok despite looking out of place amoung my detailer buddies here, here is my truefull findings on this product, i have a Bently Conty i look after on a weekly basis and it has PG applied and trufully i was impressed with it compaired to the likes of Supagaurd Dimnodbrite etc, it is far better, it dont last as long as they claim IMO

The only down side is there prep work leaves a little to be desired

If you want i will take some pics and maybe a vid of it on thursday when i go to clean it

PS: i have nothing to do with PG in any way, quite the oposite, but credit where its due it aint a bad product compared to it rivals.

ok I can confirm that in my case anyway the use of a Meguiars clay bar kit from halfords has removed the remanents of permagard or whatever it was on my car that was runing my attempts at waxing. I spent out on Meguiars stage 1-3 1 is a cleaner 2 is a wax and 3 is Carnuba wax and can recommend these products! car now looks like it should, and I am looking forward to putting on few more coats of carnuba!

It cost me some money but I went to halfords for convienience.. going to clay bar the missus Golf next and treat that to 3 stages.. bet she complains I never spend that much time on her....

Seemed to be some knowledgeable detailers on this thread so need some advice. I've just had some minor paintwork done after an opc scratched it while in for service! There are some minor swirl marks but particularly noticeable after polishing and when in sunlight are hologram effects that move in the reflection as you change your perspective. If that makes sense! Is there any way of getting rid of these imperfections?

Maybe posting it as a new thread might give you slightly better coverage as i nearly did not view this thread as its an old one ! wink

There are 2 ways really

1) to temporary cover the problem with specailised products such as Bilt Hamber Auto Balm wax .

2) Machine polish also known as machine (paint) correction using either a rotory or dual action machine . This involves a carefull and small amount of removal of the damage by using different grades of cutting compound and polish foams ! This gets rid of the problem for good , that is until someone washes badly again ! wink

As Kelly has pointed out - Auto-balm will mask the effect/marks, but it probably just needs another going over with a finer grade of polish and softer pad, to get them removed.
A local pro in your area could do it for you, and offer some advice on maintaining it thereafter - shouldn't cost much if the damage is minor and contained to one area.

I've been in touch with gmund who use swiss wax, and permaguard. Both have said they can remove the holograms. Permaguard use a "crystal wash" anyone know anything about this process. I've read what you guys have said about permaguard so dont want the full process but might be interested in just the crystal wash if it works and I can find out where to get it. Also permaguard want 200 quid and Gmund want 350 does this sound reasonable?

Yeah, they'll remove it using a finer polish before putting on the Permagard - part of the deal really.
You can't EVER wash off holograms - otherwise if you could, you'd be able to wipe them off with IPA (panel wipe) just as easily.
Savve your money - get the paint repolished by someone who knows what they're doing, then get a good wax/sealant and use at least once a month.

Hi - breaking my post virginity here !

Ive just taken delivery of an 07 gallardo spyder in black - quite a bit of swirl marks unfortunatley after the first time i washed it..

I dont think theres enough web coverage of the detailers - they need to spend a few quid on search engine optimisation i think .. ( because if I new there were detailers like miracle detail close by i would have called them!!)

Ive gone with the main lambo dealers recommendation and my cars with permagard now having it done - then having some mastershield fitted..

I'll let people know whats its like - i drive the car daily and sometimes its left out in the rain hence i was happy to spend the £ to get it done.. i was quoted £480 first !

Hi there are detailers around that can solve your problem !!! with just the same as this car !! Here is a link

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Now is your car as bad as this one then only machine polishing will get rid of the swirls ! No so called magic product will work !!!

You can view more pictures here too !!

I never take payment until the client has properly inspected the car and is %100 happy, which IMO is what you should have done if you weren't happy.
