Not sure whether this is the right forum or not but hope there maybe someone to help.

I have some Ali I want to paint. Now i think there must be omething to prepare it before putting an undercoat and then top coat on, otherwise i believe it will chip of easily? Any pointers mucho appreciated smile

Not an expert on the matter but Im sure you would have to use an etch primer.

Key as you would a steel panel - ensuring that any oxidisation residue is fully removed & then spray with a wash-etch primer.......NOT the usual super etch style stuff. Also unless you have a totally moisture free environment in which to do it, then you need to etch asap after preparing the bare aluminium as it will begin to oxidise within minutes & this will give you microblistering.
Don't do any filler work over the etch until at least 2wks after it's been applied as the acid in the etch will soften the filler, the same applies with etch priming over filler.
