No pictures as yet, I'll try and get them hosted tomorrow so you can see my efforts biggrin

Went out this morning and got myself sorted with a new SRP, some EGP, some masking tape and a random orbital polisher (it was only £30 in halfrauds so I thought I'd try it out) cool

Now, having never clayed a car before, I was a bit liberal with the last touch - I used a whole bottle before I'd even finished the top surfaces hehe

I was amazed how much the clay picked up eek

I was expecting a bit, but not a lot as it had been pressure washed and truckwashed earlier in the day. I was amazed...

>pic of mucky clay to go here!<

I leathered the car down (I know, but I'm sticking to what I know first time) and the paint felt really smooth. It looked like shit, but it FELT smooth laugh The paint wasn't badly affected with swirls, it was more heavy scratching, but the paint had very little lustre to it.

I masked up a section of the bonnet and masked the plastic washer jets as well. Spritzed the area with water (megs had run out by then!) and put a few blobs of srp onto the orbital. A couple of passes didn't really do much, so I put a tad more polish on and was a bit bolder, applying a bit more pressure and really working the polish into every area. Buffed off with the terry cloth and it looked great, hardly any marks and a really deep shine. The reflection looked much better too.

Once the whole car was done, I buffed off and called it a day.

I'm going to finish the process on sunday, with a layer of collinite and sorting the glass out, and then look at revisiting some of the problem areas as and when I get the time/inclination with a coarser compound etc.

Thanks for all the advice so far chaps thumbup
