Tom is the man; don't go anywhere else! You won't fault the product or the service - trust me!

Actually i have to disagree. I have seen several Paintshield installs and while they are OK i believe the best in the business is actually a Ventureshield installer by the name of Nick Phelps.

^^^That man knows his stuff. Ventureshield is the best quality film available and they know what they are doing re kits and installing on cars.

I would agree that quality of kit will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but a lot is down to the application.
As with any car products, be it paint, alloy wheels, ice, etc etc, your best bet is to find someone through referals. Then im sure youll be happy with the end results smile

One word of warning though. If you ever want to remove it, be carefull if the cars had the nosecone painted, because it can (not always) pull the paint off with the film.

Interesting comment about Paintshield's work from Jedi-Knight, who I know has not had dealings with Tom or Paintshield - and, as a detailer, surely wouldn't be so bold as to make a qualitative and objective assessment of that company's work. Likewise, I know Tom wouldn't criticise any detailers work as, by his own admission, he's not an expert in that field; however, he is an (the) expert (in my opinion) in the field of paint protection film.

However, I can't compare Paintshield with Ventureshield - or Tom with Nick as I have no knowledge of the latter or his company. However, to assess Paintshield work as only 'ok', I wonder on what basis that view is made? Unless your customers are declaring that it is Paintshield that supplied the film and undertook the work directly then it may only be the product that has been supplied (if at all) - and a third party installation. Certainly Tom would be very upset if a direct customer of his was disappointed with any aspect of the film or installation; having used Tom on many occasions to protect my cars, I know how important quality control is to him. Also, as a non-expert, I wonder how you have determined that Nick Phelps is the best in the business; if you haven't dealt with Tom - and I suggest all the other providers and installers of PPF, how can you make such a bold statement?

Might I suggest that before making an assessment of the Paintshield product and/or installation, you might like to visit Tom at Grantham (not too far from Cambridge) and see his facilities and products and discuss the issue before passing influential comment on a forum. As a professional detailer (and one whose work I respect - but haven't experienced), I know that you would not be pleased if Tom made a comment that your work was just 'ok'; businesses are built on reputation and mutual respect - and, in my view, professional views should not cross the bounds of expertise.

No, I'm not employed by Tom; however, I am an extremely satisfied repeat customer of his.

Nice post Del.
I have no affiliation to Tom, but I do run a fairly well known (in certain circles) resto & paint firm. Many of our clients have had their cars done by Tom & the results are spectacular, & I can confirm that my clients are a particularly fussy bunch!!!!!
I have also seen a few dreadful jobs done by other installers, so the margin for error is obviously immense.
I'm one for speaking as you find & all reports I've heard of Tom & his team's work are positive.

just to clear this up.. i work on several cars that have paintshield applied and like i said.. it is 'OK'. If you just saw as car with paintshield applied you would probably be perfectly happy. But having also seen Nicks installs i feel that A. the fitting is better and B. the product is actually better... more reflective and harder to notice.

Also when i said that Nick was 'best in the business' i was responding to the earlier comment that Tom was best in the business.

.. whether or not tom or nick are 'best' is impossible to tell without sampling EVERY installer in the country... but to date the cars i have seen from Nick has been excellent.

I agree my comments may have come across as negative and i apologies for that... and I cant be sure that it was actually Toms work that i have seen (although im pretty sure that a couple said that it was Tom).. but then in my original post i wasnt negative about tom as such.. i said the Paintshield installs i saw were 'OK'

I am happy for my comments re paintshield and Tom to be removed but would like my recommendation of Nick and ventureshield to remain.

Regards

Nathan
