Applying Armour Fend (3M Film)
Discussion
Hi,
Good idea to get swirls and paint correction done before fitting the film.
The protection film installer will/should clean down the area prior to fitting the film. We use isopropanol to remove any wax to allow the film to stick correctly.
We always clay the surface prior to installation too which should be what your detailer will do.
So you are doing it the right way as once the film is down, any paint imperfections left underneath will show through.
It doesnt matter if the detaler waxes the paintwork as it will be removed on the area to be covered.
It will pay you to reapply the wax over the film and the surrounding areas once the film has been fitted and fully cured.
You should get warranty and care instructions from the installers which covers how to look after the film.
